leather weather

Can't go anywhere without a few packs of Smarties. At this point it may qualify as an addiction.

As you can probably tell from my most recent posts, I'm a little overly-excited about the coming season change. So in the first photo I started out with a blazer, because you know, fall calls for blazers, right?
Then I realized I am still in Texas. And although the weather has gotten comfortable enough for leather skirts in the evenings, I definitely shouldn't opt for leather and a blazer.
So for now I think my only option is cranking the A/C down, turning on all the fans, and pretending I live up North where the weather actually suits me. It would be nice to actually get to wear all of my new sweaters and coats I've been accumulating outside of the house. So, northerners, count your blessings and know that I am infinitely jealous of you right now.

summer prep

summer prep

I'm going through that anxious phase I go through every year when summer break is so close I can nearly taste it. The air is hot and the weekends are such a tease. One of the only things I love about summer is getting a huge inspiration-boost. All the excess time I have gives me the opportunity to revamp my wardrobe, create lots of inspiration boards, work on making my own pieces, and do lots of writing. I'm more excited for this summer than usual, though, because this is the summer before my freshman year of college. Many things will be changing (moving out, for starters) and I'm hoping to change my wardrobe (just a teensy bit) along with those things. If ever there were a time, it would be now. I want to try out new styles and step out of my comfort zone just a bit.
I've also spent the majority of my day whipping up a new resume and applying for quite a few summer internships in LA and NYC...so who knows where this summer may take me?

florals for spring? groundbreaking.

florals for spring? groundbreaking

"Florals for spring? Groundbreaking."
Ah, one of the most infamous lines to come out of Miranda Priestly's sour mouth (if you haven't seen The Devil Wears Prada, you have not lived).  Although some might say it's become a bit of a cliche to be all over florals for spring, I disagree. In my opinion, that's like saying "Stop decorating your house with a Christmas tree and ornaments. They've been doing that quite a bit the past few years." Uh, well, YEAH because it's Christmas time and there are certain things that you just do during the holidays. Just like, to me, florals are something you just wear during spring.
And judging by the S/S '13 collections, and the spring magazines that have been piling up on my doorstep, it's pretty apparent that florals are prominent for spring again this year. Score.
My favorite trend was the floral patterned skirts and pants. I love patterned bottoms.
So here's a very spring-esque look I threw together to help me start pulling inspiration for spring. Even though I still have 2 more months of winter in Texas. Whatever. That's how fashion works, isn't it? Always planning ahead for the next season.

// everything looks dead

All of the pretty fall leaves have fallen and subsequently been raked, and our week of 80 degree weather is going to abruptly end tomorrow when we hit a high/low of 45/28.
I. Can't. Wait. Bring on the December weather, Texas!

where is the november weather

It's November (where has the year gone?!) and it's back up to 85 degrees.
I shouldn't be surprised...this happens every year in Texas...but it still irritates me to death. I'm ready for cold weather!!

In other news, I took the SAT today. That was ridiculous. I better have gotten a good score because there's no way in heck I'm doing that again.

out of the ordinary

Dress- Ebay, Tights- Ebay, Booties- Urban Outfitters, Bag- Forever21
This was taken a few days ago after I received my new polka dot dress (which fits more like a shirt) and ombre tights in the mail! It's weird because when I look at this photo all I can think is "Why am I wearing that?" Not because I don't like it, but I guess because it's not really my style. I bought the dress and the tights off of Ebay, and although I like the tights, I'm not huge on the dress. It's way too short, and the sleeves are super puffy.
But when you buy online, you never know what you'll wind up with.

Also- one week left until school starts! Hope everyone (who's starting school at the same time as me) is enjoying their last week of summer!

Photobucket
Photobucket

My ASOS package arrived today, and in it was the sheer pink collared drape back blouse, and the canvas strap bag.
Sadly, I was not satisfied with either and will probably be returning both. The blouse was much larger than expected, there were strings of thread hanging off all over the place, the color was different than pictured, and it just did not look flattering on me.
The bag was what I was most excited to receive, but the color shown online was a cream color, and it turned out to be an awful olive green color (more so than you can tell in the photo above) and I'm really not happy with it.
ASOS usually impresses me, but unfortunately not today!
