striped saturday

After having to deal with losing an hour of sleep from daylight savings + coming back to school after spring break, I am exhausted. This has felt like the longest week ever.  We finished our second to last issue of the school newspaper, prom is getting stressful, I'm rushing to finish scholarship applications, and it just feels like everything is all happening at once! I thought second semester of senior year was supposed to be easy....whoever said that is a liar.
I'm really and truly sorry for slacking a bit on blogging. I'm trying to pick up the pace a bit :')

For everyone who's just starting Spring Break, enjoy! And for those of you still trying to recover from SB like me, get some rest this weekend!!

my new online shop!

I just started a small little shop to list my gently-used clothing that will probably just be sitting in my closet for ages! I'm trying to start getting rid of things after I've worn them a few times so I can make room for new items (my closet is getting too full!). Instead of just taking them up to Platos Closet or something, I thought I'd put them up in a little shop for you guys to browse through.
Enjoy! :') xo

it's beginning to look NOT like christmas

Some of my Cyber Monday purchases just arrived, and I love them! I snagged the moto jacket for $8 and the waffle knit sweater for $4!
I got a few other things I'm itching to share, but unfortunately, they haven't arrived in the mail yet. Stay tuned.

Anyways- don't be fooled by my cool-weather outfit...it was 80 yesterday when these were taken. 80 degrees in December. Unacceptable. It is NOT beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

Backpack- Roxy

First of all, let me apologize for the awful quality/angles/lack of creativity with these photos.
I haven't slept in a few days and I just feel so out of it. And I would do an outfit post, but my face is still swollen/red from an allergic reaction I had with a makeup product. Awesome.

ANYWAY, my back-to-school shopping has begun, clearly. These are all the things I've picked up within the last month or so for school.
I didn't really notice until I even made this post, but it appears that I'm really gravitating towards pinks, neutrals, and polka dots. And skulls. I love skulls.
I'm excited to wear all of the sweaters I've gotten, but those won't be put to use until December because of the awful heat in Texas. I also am super duper excited to finally have a pair of quality black jeggings! Thank you Levis, you are never a disappointment. They fit so nicely and are extremely comfy.
Although I was initially really excited about my backpack, when it got here I found that it was teeny tiny. The site I bought it off of didn't mention that is called a "mini" backpack (or so Roxy calls it). I really like the style, though, so I'm going back and forth on whether I'll return it.

I've also bought a ton more things online that haven't arrived yet. My online spending is out of control. I'd say that I need to stop, but I really don't want to. What's better than getting mail and having new clothes? Probably nothing.

instagram: a sad, lousy excuse of a blog post

So many fun things to come home to today! After spending 9 hours babysitting, finding a few things laying on the bed (that I wanted to collapse on) when I finally got home wasn't so bad. (I also have a bad habit with ASOS- they have free shipping w/ no minimum so I find myself just going back for more even after I tell myself to stop!)

I've been in the market for a pair of simple leopard flats, and Target (my savior) happened to have them on sale for $12 and my kind mother brought them home for me. Thanks, Mom :')

Wearing sweaters and drinking hot beverages in bed while I cry because it's not anywhere near cold-weather season has become very habitual. I'm not a fan of the 110+ degree weather.

Best. Purchase. Ever. I love this swim top!!

Needed something to put in the cover of my binder, and I'm really super obnoxiously obsessed with skulls, so I printed out a picture of one and doodled on it and glued some flowers over the eyes, and voila! DIY binder cover. I love it.

Obnoxious mirror selfie. W/e.

A.M.E.N.
Seeing as how I have absolutely no idea how to do my makeup, I refuse to spend absurd amounts of money on it. I am a long-standing customer of ELF and will be for years to come, I'm sure. The studio line is really good (essentials line is pretty shady sometimes, ngl) and dirt cheap. I got all of this for under $30. Baaaaargaaaaaain. Pretty much the only makeup product I don't use from ELF is my foundation. I just got all of those products shown above in the mail the other day, and they all work really well! I'll try and do a proper review of each item soon!

I haven't updated my blog in forever. I'm sorry. Forgive me. No one noticed. That's ok.
I was wanting to do an outfit post the other day, but my sister took my camera with her on a little trip she took. She's back now, though, so hopefully I'll get one done soon!
Although the heat is making me want to do nothing but lay around and sleep. It's been almost 110 degrees all week. Someone let me move in with them, preferably somewhere with lots of rain.

sickly sunday

Started feeling ill last night and still today, and I hate it. I feel like I'm always sick. And even though it was over 100 degrees today, my body felt really chilled. When I went to my closet to find some warm clothes I found these cutout leggings I got on ebay a few months back. I really, really like the idea of them but the quality of these is so awful. Hopefully I'll find some better ones to wear when the weather's cooler.
Anyway, spent this Sunday laying in bed drinking cup after cup of coffee and marathon-ing pretty little liars. Hope everyone else had a more productive, healthy day! x

Everything you need to go back to school UNDER $200/shopping tips

go back to school for under $200 TOTAL

If you guys have picked up on anything from reading my blog, it would probably be that I do not let myself spend a lot of money on clothes/shoes/accessories/anything. 90% of what I post is "thrifted" (which is actually probably annoying if you liked it and were looking to buy it...oops, sorry). I'm a broke teenage girl in high school without a job...so, needless to say, I don't have a ton money to be throwing around.
I am, however, VERY good at finding sales/deals/saving money and things of that sort.

Generally, when I'm reading a fashion blog, I see things like this:
"Picked up a top today at SAKS for only $200! Such a steal!" or "These boots are on sale for only $150! Can you believe that?!" and so on and so forth. And those are generally the items on the cheaper end of the spectrum for most bloggers.
Which is fine! ....if you have that kind of money. But, again. H-i-g-h-s-c-h-o-o-l. I have other things to worry about spending my money on! My car, food, going out with friends, paying for school functions, my phone, school supplies, books, etc! With or without a job (especially without), these things are hard to keep up with when you're 14-18 years old, on TOP of keeping up with your school work, and TRYING YOUR HARDEST TO LOOK CUTE WHEN YOU'RE GETTING UP AT 6AM.

So, I thought I'd share a set I put together of everything you need to go back to school for UNDER $200. Everything in that set, put together, totals to under $200. For the most part, I think I got all the basics covered in there. Almost everything I put in this set can be mixed and matched with whatever else you have in your closet. Versatility- that's what it's all about.

And even if what I featured isn't really your style, remember these things before going back to school shopping:
  • LOOK ONLINE FIRST- If you see something in the store that you like, check and see if it's online. Tons of things go on sale on a store's website long before it will go on sale in stores. And sometimes, the sale will be better online then it will be when it does go on sale in the store.  "But what about shipping?" Around August/September, most websites have "Back-to-School" sales where they offer free shipping/huge sales/etc. ALSO, google "Coupons for _______" (whatever store) and see what comes up. Sometimes websites will have codes that can get you 10-20% off your purchase at checkout (which could end up saving you close to the price you'd be paying for shipping).
  • FIND OUT WHAT DAY NEW MERCHANDISE GOES UP- When you find out when stores are putting out new merchandise, you are also finding out what day other items start going on sale. Therefore, you will be the first person to get to the sales before all the good items/sizes are gone.
  • DON'T BE SHY- If you see something you like at a store, but it's still a bit too pricey, ask a sales associate if they know when it's going on sale. Sometimes they'll be completely clueless and look at you like you're an idiot for asking them something like that. Sometimes they'll tell you "Come back in a week and it will be 30% off." It. Never. Hurts. To. Ask. Questions.
  • THINK ABOUT IT FIRST- I am the queen of impulse buying. I see something that I like, and I buy it. Oh, and then it sits in my closet for a year without ever being worn. Now (what I try to do) if I see something I want and it's over $30 (and isn't the last one in my size in stock) I give myself a few days to think about it. If I come home and I'm still thinking about it, then I go to my closet and see what I could pair with it. If it's something I know I'll wear more than once or twice, I'll go back and get it. But you'll find that half the time you'll go home and you won't think about it again, which means you probably didn't really want it/need it in the first place, and now you have extra money in your pocket for something else.
I hope at least one of these things comes to mind when you go shopping now. Even if you (or your parents) have all the money in the world to spend, it doesn't hurt to be wise with it!

just little things

Everything in this photo is under $10! I'm such a thrifty, frugal girl. Phone case- amazon, wedges- Target, fur vest- thrifted, DIY lace trim shorts- thrifted (then I added the trim!), sunglasses- Target, ring- thrifted.
detailzzzzzz
DIY lace trim shorts! I'm not entirely finished with them (have to sew up the edges- they look messy). Just use fabric glue and then sew them on!
DIY lace trim part 2- back side.
Was feeling healthy yesterday, as you can see (a rare occurance for me). I already ate all the blueberries...oops.
Salad w/ avocado! Yum yum yum.
Spent the morning out thrifting with my sister and found so many great things (those lavender shorts being one of them) and the rest you'll probably see soon! I'm such a sucker for buying sweaters in the summer because I miss autumn/winter so much....I bought like 5 and I almost regret it but not really because it's better to get them now when they're cheaper!
I also DIY'd some shorts when I got home because I had like 6 cups of coffee and was starting to go insane from a caffeine overdose and needed something to do.
I still need to touch them up a bit, but overall I'm happy with the outcome!
I'm also a huge salad nut (favorite food!) and have been trying to step outside of my caesar-salad-only routine and add new things, so yesterday I tried avocado! Tasted even better than I expected :')
We're also having an unexpected thunderstorm here right now (which is a huge blessing in Texas) so today has been a good day!

Georgetown Cupcakes (they have a show on TLC- DC Cupcakes; season 2 airs this Feb)....so cute/crowded/tiny/delicious!

Shirt&Snood from H&M. So many nice neutrals for fall in stores!

Got this really yummy goat milk bath soap from Anthropologie. It smells so good, I can't wait to use it!

Small shopping in DC...saving it all for NYC! We leave tomorrow morning early early to take a train and we're staying there for two nights, then back to DC for another night, and then home! More photos to come (the internet in the hotel lobby is awful)! xxxxx
