mesh & maxi

First & foremost: three cheers to making it through my first semester of college! I didn't think I'd make it. Unfortunately I've still got 3.5 semesters to go.

Today I'm thankful for nice weather and a break from the crazy cold we've had lately. All year I wait for the day it turns cold, but after having a nice modern-day ice age a few weeks back, these past couple of 70 degree days have been nice (and perfect to get out and shoot!).
As I was scouring my closet for something to wear earlier, I found this maxi dress sitting at the very back, tags still attached. I remember thinking I couldn't live without this dress when I first tried it on, and as soon as I got home I thought "this shows too much skin, I'll never wear it."
Well, the time has come. I'm stepping out of my comfort zone (literally...check out that slit up the side) and trying new things.
Hope my dad doesn't see this post because he might just murder me (sorry, pops!)

incapable of dressing for the weather

These may or may not have been taken on the same day as my last post which may or may not be why I'm wearing the same bag/sunglasses/hairstyle...
My pro-photog sister is back in college and she has night classes almost every weeknight, so we decided we'd start shooting several outfits on one day over the weekend so I could just post them throughout the week.
At the time, it didn't occur to me to change anything but my outfit, so by the time I was parked near a field changing outfits in the car (definitely not a cute sight to behold), it was a bit too late to concern myself with a change in the accessory department. You'll just have to trust me that I'm not too accessory-challenged.
In other news, I'm glad I didn't actually wear this today because it's about 28 degrees right now (yesterday it sleeted & snowed all morning). It was only about 45 the day we shot this...but I thought it would be a cute outfit, and cute outfits don't wait for anyone. Besides, I'm never properly dressed for the weather. I don't even have a winter jacket yet....but I ordered one online yesterday, so I'm sure it will get here in time for the Texas winter season to start wrapping up. Peeeerfect timing...whatever, it was on sale.

leaves

.....awkwardly trying to throw leaves in the air and be cute. Didn't work.

My super cute pup wanted in on all the photo action, too.

Although it may not feel like autumn yet, it sure looks like it in my backyard!
Supposedly we'll be down to 48 degrees on Monday, though, and I can't wait :')
Happy it's-almost-Friday! xo

bits of my room // new buys

corner

my parents brought this neat little camera home for me last night, anthro catalog just came in, & my favorite tea: sleepytime vanilla
found that white/black/red vase at a thrift store for $4, and the tag on the bottom says it was hand-painted in a native american village. so pretty!

dead flowers and skulls everywhere....
ok so...this is the only drugstore foundation that i've been able to find that has a shade light enough for my skin. (slightly embarrassing)
i love it! it makes my skin look SO nice. and each is only $6. b a r g a i n.

found these while out thrifting and i looove them.

Canton Treasures

Found some really cute rings for such a bargain! (Ended up with about seven)

These were the cutest little bars of soap! They smelled so nice, and I loved that they were wrapped in maps!

Okay you guys, you may think I'm exaggerating, but this was honestly the best bread I've ever tasted. It was homemade, and the guy who was selling it put honey on it and it was so delicious!  We bought three bags of the flour to make it because we couldn't get enough of it! It tasted so moist and fresh!

Walked away with the most delicious smelling homemade coffee in Caramel Creme (mmmm), handmade Coconut scented soap, and a really sweet smelling vanilla candle. I've already burned it several times today and it smells incredible!
Items I got that aren't pictured: Vintage "The North Face" camera bag, old wooden crate boxes, and a few more rings in addition to the ones in the first photo.
