Leopard & Checkered

It's been a long time since I've had an outfit post, and I'll tell you this: I'm just as awkward at "posing" as ever.
"What should I do with my hands?" "Do my arms look awkward?" "How fat do my thighs look from this angle?" "Okay stop let me look at these really quickly to see what I should stop doing."
And then there's the terrible moment when you look at all the images on the camera and you thought you were smiling in all of them but you actually look like you're trying to snatch someone's soul. Yeah. Does this ever get easier? Stay tuned.

But regardless of how awkward I am, I have been super into black and white checkered prints lately. I got this Forever21 top at a thrift store recently, as well as a similar print on a pair of shorts from Forever21 (also thrifted) which I can't wait to wear. I'm a black-and-white-clothing-only girl through and through, so when I can find a print that I like, I wear it to pieces. It's like wearing a flannel in the summer. And I love it.

liquid metal

I feel like I've really been gravitating towards gold accents recently and neglecting all of my silver jewelry, but when I saw this top at a local thrift store, I immediately forgot why.
The shirt is super lightweight and looks amazing out in the sun. Almost like a liquid metal.
I definitely feel like it's one of those pieces that I'll keep in my closet for years to come. Plus, it gave me a reason to bust out some of my silver jewelry and my silver-studded booties!

festival fever

I made a post about a month back during all of the Coachella craziness about my festival fever, and it's safe to say that it's still going strong. Now that the weather has warmed up, I'm busting out all my favorite summer playlists and all I can think about is how much I'd like to be roadtripping to all sorts of festivals this summer.
So since I'm so festival-crazed right now, I decided to pull inspiration from that for this post!

I've been trying desperately to be more responsible with my money and stop my incessant shopping, but with that decision, a huge problem arises: an uninspired wardrobe. The same old boring things I've worn a hundred times.
I knew I couldn't cut out shopping entirely, but I decided to set a budget for myself. $15/week on clothes (at the very most), and that's it. So where did I go first?
Back to the trusty ol' thrift store down the street.

The "dress" I'm wearing in these photos actually isn't a dress at all...it's a women's XL shirt that I decided to revamp for myself. And instead of new shoes and a new bag, I recycled the shoes and clutch I took with me to prom (which I originally had no intentions of ever wearing again).

I've been spending a lot more of my free time going through blogs for inspiration on how to re-style old clothes and save a bit of money, and I'm having a lot of fun doing it! :')

60's queen

I. Love. The. 60's.
Today I found this little dress that I got (for $8, might I add) in the back of my closet so I tossed it on, added a little bit of a red lip, and rummaged through my dad's dresser until I found his bandanas.
Result? Little 60's Susie.
No one was available to take pictures for me today, so I broke out the old tripod and tried to do some myself. Yikes. 
I spent a good half hour running around and having the most ridiculous photoshoot with myself...but it was a lot of fun, I'll admit.
Anyways, enjoy! I hope all of you who get tomorrow off from school are as grateful as I am!!

incapable of dressing for the weather

These may or may not have been taken on the same day as my last post which may or may not be why I'm wearing the same bag/sunglasses/hairstyle...
My pro-photog sister is back in college and she has night classes almost every weeknight, so we decided we'd start shooting several outfits on one day over the weekend so I could just post them throughout the week.
At the time, it didn't occur to me to change anything but my outfit, so by the time I was parked near a field changing outfits in the car (definitely not a cute sight to behold), it was a bit too late to concern myself with a change in the accessory department. You'll just have to trust me that I'm not too accessory-challenged.
In other news, I'm glad I didn't actually wear this today because it's about 28 degrees right now (yesterday it sleeted & snowed all morning). It was only about 45 the day we shot this...but I thought it would be a cute outfit, and cute outfits don't wait for anyone. Besides, I'm never properly dressed for the weather. I don't even have a winter jacket yet....but I ordered one online yesterday, so I'm sure it will get here in time for the Texas winter season to start wrapping up. Peeeerfect timing...whatever, it was on sale.

end of break blues

Was taking snaps of my bracelets so I rolled up my sleeve...forgot to unroll it. Oops!

My winter break is coming to a close, and I'm so sad to see it end! I've had the best winter break. So much family time, wonderful presents on Christmas, and tons and tons of shopping with great friends.
I have really enjoyed having so much time to blog and relax in the evenings, and I'm not looking forward to dealing with the stresses of school again next week. It's my last semester of high school, though, so I probably should at least try to enjoy it a bit!

All of the pretty fall leaves have fallen and subsequently been raked, and our week of 80 degree weather is going to abruptly end tomorrow when we hit a high/low of 45/28.

Little Black Dress: night // day

About a year back I stumbled upon this cute little velvet black dress and fell in love. Price tag? $5.
I wear it alllll the time, because it's probably the most versatile item of clothing I own.
So I decided to do a night to day post!
The first few photos are how I'd style it for a night out with friends: statement necklace, faux fur vest, wedges.
The last two photos are an easy way to transform it for daytime: keep it simple with a chunky scarf & sun hat.

Went to go pick up my last high school schedule (EVER) today! So weird to think about.

nifty thrifty

Found these two faux fur vests at the thrift store today and fell in love! I've been on the hunt for a reasonably priced faux fur vest for ages and I stumbled upon two in one day! The first one is more of what I was looking for, and just as I was about to leave, I walked through the little girl's section to get to the checkout and saw the white one! I was so thrilled so I ran to the dressing room (2nd photo, as you can see) and was so happy to find that they both fit! I guarantee you will see a lot of these two vests in my posts this autumn/winter!!

A few more things I found whilst thrifting, but these were from yesterday. Two pretty (and big!) mugs, a cozy sweater, and two beautiful leather wallets! I replaced my old wallet with the pretty one on the left, and the other will probably be up for sale on my etsy soon!
