As I may or may not have mentioned previously, I recently moved out of my parent's house and into a house with my older sister. Among the things I miss the most would be: my sweet puppy, not having to pay for silly but necessary things like laundry detergent, my mom's incessant bear hugs....and most importantly, my walk-in closet. RIP.
My new closet is half the size of my old one, and it's entirely full already. Annnnnd I've only moved 1/4 of my clothing over.
As I am trying to work on my problem-solving skills (they are lacking), upon moving out I decided to invest in a clothing rack for seasonal items I would frequently wear, so as to make room in my closet (and to add to the aesthetic of my room). But being as busy as I am with college classes and studying, work, sorority functions, and trying to squeeze in a couple hours of sleep here and there, I've hardly had time to even unpack, let alone organize my clothing.
Finally last Sunday I had nothing on my plate until the late evening, so I (first and foremost) slept in until noon....and then decided to hang up and organize most of the clothing I've moved over. And since (miraculously!!!) the weather has been in the 50's in the mornings/evenings and 70-80's in the afternoon, I figured it was 100% acceptable to bust out my favorite (faux) furs, leather, and knits.
It makes me so giddy and excited when I walk in my room every night and see those pretties sitting there and I realize it'll only be a few more weeks or so before I can wear everything that's patiently sitting there! FALL IS HERE!

Can't go anywhere without a few packs of Smarties. At this point it may qualify as an addiction.

As you can probably tell from my most recent posts, I'm a little overly-excited about the coming season change. So in the first photo I started out with a blazer, because you know, fall calls for blazers, right?
Then I realized I am still in Texas. And although the weather has gotten comfortable enough for leather skirts in the evenings, I definitely shouldn't opt for leather and a blazer.
So for now I think my only option is cranking the A/C down, turning on all the fans, and pretending I live up North where the weather actually suits me. It would be nice to actually get to wear all of my new sweaters and coats I've been accumulating outside of the house. So, northerners, count your blessings and know that I am infinitely jealous of you right now.

falling for fall

If you went through the entirety of this blog, you'd probably find that 86.4% of my posts have something related to autumnal weather in them. I'm not kidding. My obsession with fall is really strange/out of control. But now that the season is upon us, I can totally pass this obsession as normal. Who doesn't get excited for fall? (If you just rolled your eyes and said you didn't, you might as well just close this tab right now because not loving fall isn't allowed on my blog.)
ANYWAYS, I thought I'd share some of my fall-spiration with you guys before I start shooting my own fall outfit posts (the excitement is real).

fall essentials (pt.1)

Although the weather and I aren't exactly in agreement, with the month of September comes autumn. And as I am an autumn baby (19 on Friday!), this is by far my favorite season. All year I look forward to the 2 weeks I can wander around in chunky knits and boots with a pumpkin spice and my hair will hold curls...ugh it's glorious. And even if I can't have that weather just yet, I find great comfort in knowing it's not too far off. Finally I'll be able to wake up without wanting to cry and walk out the door in a bikini (why isn't that socially acceptable in Texas yet? I feel like it should be). And I know you lucky northerners are already getting a taste of autumn (adopt me) so I thought I'd go ahead and get my fall posts rollin'!

 Although it may not feel like autumn yet, it sure looks like it in my backyard!
Supposedly we'll be down to 48 degrees on Monday, though, and I can't wait :')

Little Black Dress: night // day

About a year back I stumbled upon this cute little velvet black dress and fell in love. Price tag? $5.
I wear it alllll the time, because it's probably the most versatile item of clothing I own.
So I decided to do a night to day post!
The first few photos are how I'd style it for a night out with friends: statement necklace, faux fur vest, wedges.
The last two photos are an easy way to transform it for daytime: keep it simple with a chunky scarf & sun hat.
